Dr. Mohan is a national award winning, dual board-certified physician specializing in Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology. After completing medical school in India from Calicut Medical College in 2001, he trained in the United Kingdom, earning the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He then completed his Radiology residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami in 2014. He subsequently served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami until 2024.
Dr. Mohan was the former program director for the Interventional Radiology residency and fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital system. During his tenure, he trained over 100 residents who now practice as interventional radiologists across the country.
Dr. Mohan’s career is marked by an impressive record of over 20,000 procedures, including more than 1,500 embolization procedures. He has an extensive research portfolio, with over 50 scientific papers and book chapters to his name. His contributions to research and innovation to the field was recognized by the Society of Interventional Radiology with the “Excellence in Innovation” award in 2022.
He is considered a national leader in the field of Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) which is his primary clinical and research focus. His nationwide study on UFE was selected for press release by the Society of Interventional Radiology and was highlighted by major health news outlets in 2017 and resulted in a ABC News 10 TV interview. He authored the first systematic review on fertility following UFE and conducted a landmark double-blind randomized controlled trial on pain control after UFE, which is considered the highest level of research evidence. His work on UFE also includes studies on the efficacy of UFE for large fibroids.
Dr. Mohan is passionate about medical education and received the Jose Yrizarry M.D. Teaching Award in 2018 and 2019 from the University of Miami.
